About ATIS Relay

I built ATIS Relay because I felt like it's a great way to get ahead of the airplane, and also to share some extra info online that can help students practice so they don't have to listen to the ATIS 3 times and block the phone line for someone else. I was also disappointed that the basic tier of ForeFlight did not include access to D-ATIS and I wanted to make sure it was available to all.

The service provides two main features:

  • Direct access to FAA D-ATIS data for supported airports
  • Transcription service for airports that only have voice ATIS

For D-ATIS airports, you'll receive information within seconds. For airports that require transcription, there's approximately an 80-second delay while we process the audio feed. The service works through both SMS and our iOS app, with basic functionality being completely free.

ATIS Relay is part of a broader effort to make aviation technology more accessible, alongside OwnNav, an upcoming open-source EFB. This is a passion project that doesn't even pay for itself, so any support is much appreciated. Please download the app, leave positive reviews and subscribe if you want to support. You can also help by sponsoring a feed at your local airport.
