Online ATIS for Airports without D-ATIS

As of today when an ATIS transcript is requested through ATIS Relay the ATIS will also be made available online on atisrelay.com.

To view an ATIS for one of these airports, click the Airports tab in the top nav and select the airport you need ATIS for. If ATIS has been requested in the past hour it will be shown at the top of the page. METARs have also been added to the airport page to provide additional context and information, especially if an ATIS hasn't been requested recently for that airport.

Soon you will be able to retrieve transcribed ATIS online for all of the busiest airports even if a transcript hasn't been requested via SMS. You'll also be able to listen to the recorded ATIS online.

Why does ATIS need to be online?

People need online ATIS for several reasons. The biggest reason is convenience. Most pilots have thier home ATIS phone number saved in their phone and they'll call it on the way to the airport to familiarize themselves. It also frees up phone lines at busy airports. If everyone calls right when the ATIS is released, many will get a busy tone. Online ATIS is especially useful for student pilots since they may need to listen to the ATIS several times to understand all of the information they need. Having a transcript and hosted ATIS recording benefits everyone. Aside from real world pilots, an increasing number of aspiring pilots, airplane enthusiasts, flight simulator users and UAS pilots enjoy having access to this information.

Caveats

Make sure to check the ATIS timestamp to ensure you have the correct ATIS. Remember if the ATIS is more than an hour old, or if it doesn't match the METAR there is probably a more current version. This service is provided for convenience and pilots should always check ATIS from official FAA sources to ensure accuracy.
